MEASURES TAKEN AGAINST INCREASING CRIME RATE - Wednesday 02 of July, 2008.
|
|
Officials have noted that a recent crime wave has hit the streets of major towns. Whilst guards insist that the situation is under control, very little has been done to address the issue of bandits who have been attacking merchants as they travel between markets. As a result, it has become too risky for most merchants to leave their stores and less trade is taking place between towns.
Today, Guard Oliver of Britain has come up with a new measure to combat this issue. He is now placing bounties on criminals, granting rewards for those who can seek out the law breakers and put an end to their activities.
Any who wish to assist Oliver in protecting the trade routes should consult him to receive a contract.
To view the list of bounties, access the Bounty Stone at Britain Bank and select the new "View Job Board" option.

EVENT NIGHT - Saturday 20 of October, 2007.
|
|
Next Saturday (27th October) at 8pm BST the staff will be running 2 events for the players to take part in, these events will be different from normal in that if enough players attend there will be alternative prizes given out rather than event tickets.
8pm is the starting time, a maximum of 15 minutes will be given after this time for players to logon and prepare for the event, however this is a maximum and it is possible that the events will start before then, so please try to be online at 8pm.
All details about which events are being run and what the prizes are will be announced at the time.
If this is successful then it may be the first in a series of such nights that the staff will run.
If you could post to say you plan to attend then it would help us size up player interest and so make sure we plan the right size events.

AN ENEMY DEFEATED - Tuesday 18 of September, 2007.
|
|
In less than a day the rat situation has been resolved, with unexpected results!
An adept animal tamer known as Walter almost immediately found the cause of the increased population of rats. A gang of bandits had made their home in the sewers and forced many of the rats out into the streets. Further investigation led to the discovery that they had also been holding Ephraim captive!
After being freed, Ephraim, the weapons trainer from Lord British's castle, quickly explained to Walter that the stranger at the castle was an evil being named Damianus who was responsible for the tragedy at Nujel'm. He gave Walter a key to Lord British's chamber and requested that Walter proceed at once to rescue Lord British from Damianus' clutches.
With haste, Walter made his way to the castle and confronted Damianus in Lord British's chamber. Unfortunately Walter was no match and Damianus was able to escape the castle with ease, but not before releasing his hold over Lord British. Once Damianus was gone, Lord British immediately regained his senses and explained that Damianus had somehow been able to take control of him and the castle.
Now that Lord British is back in control, the citizens that were taken prisoner have been freed and some of the guards patrolling the city have been recalled to the castle. For his heroic acts, Walter has been awarded with the status of "Honorary Castle Guard" as signified by the shield presented to him. Lord British also intends to deal with the situation at Nujel'm in the near future.
Whilst there are still some rats remaining around the city, it shouldn't take long for the last of them to be exterminated. A guard has been posted outside the sewer entrance to make sure nothing else can escape.

RATS! - Monday 17 of September, 2007.
|
|
With the search for Ephraim wielding no results, it is now believed that he may never be seen again. The city guards have now turned their attention to a new problem in Britain... Rats! All over the city an increasing population of rats has been observed. The cause of this sudden outbreak is unknown, and the guards are having difficulty keeping the problem under control as rats are appearing all over city at an alarming rate, showing no signs of stopping.
The local healers are concerned that a plague outbreak may be imminent unless the issue is resolved quickly. They have advised that everyone stay clear of all rats unless they have means to defend themselves. It would also be wise to purchase some cure potions from the local alchemist if any symptoms of illness is found.

NEW STAFF... ARE HERE! - Monday 20 of August, 2007.
|
|
Thank you to everyone who applied for one of the new staff positions. We received a much larger amount of applications than expected, but we've finally gotten through all of them and we now know who the new staff members are going to be...
It's been difficult to choose from all the applications we received, and after narrowing the choices down we eventually decided that instead of picking two new staff members as was originally planned, we've selected three!
So, please welcome Obaymi, Ragnar and Vladisvok as they join the staff team with Counselor positions. You may be seeing them ingame shortly as they handle pages and spy... I mean, do staff stuff!

COMING SOON... NEW STAFF! - Wednesday 01 of August, 2007.
|
|
Recently we've been getting the impression that there may be an increased demand for a higher staff presence on the shard.
Today you may be pleased to hear that we now have openings for two new staff members. If you think you can contribute to the shard and may be a suitable staff candidate, please send an e-mail to thomasjlowe@hotmail.com. In your staff application you must at least include the following:- Your real name.
- Your e-mail address.
- Your ingame account name.
- Your forum account name.
- A brief explanation of why you are a suitable candidate.
Please note that if any of the above details are not found in your application, it will not be taken into consideration.
When choosing new staff members, our decision will be guided based upon your attitude towards the shard (including the staff and players), and how much experience you have on the server (in terms of how long you’ve been playing here for). Past and present behaviour will also be taken into account.
All staff applications should be received by Sunday, August 12th. Applications which are received after this date will most likely be ignored.

As well as script updates, there is also an update to the Lothlorien Patch Installer. THE MISSING MAN - Sunday 24 of June, 2007.
|
|
It has been a fair while since the invasion of Nujel'm. Slowly people have begun to forget of the events that passed, and daily lives have been resumed. Not all have forgotten however, and a few still continue the struggle to save the town from the evil that has consumed it. It seemed that nothing was going to come of this, until Kowala and Pure recently uncovered a plot that may be brewing within the walls of Lord British's castle itself...
After defeating the enemy commander who led the assault on Nujel'm, a top secret message was discovered containing orders from a mysterious character known only as Damianus. It was also discovered that the stranger visiting Lord British also shared the same name and this information was taken to Ephraim, the head weapons trainer at Lord British's castle, who promised to investigate the connection between the stranger and the message.
Today it has been discovered that Ephraim can no longer be found on the castle grounds, and nobody has any idea where he could have gone to. As usual the guards may be in need of assistance and will appreciate any information on the matter.

THANK YOU FOR A GREAT PARTY - Monday 04 of June, 2007.
|
|
I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who attended tonight’s party. I hope that everybody enjoyed themselves and got something out of it - I know that I did! Also, a thank you to the whole staff team is in order for the planning and running of events.
There were three winning raffle ticket numbers drawn and I'm sorry that not everyone was able to attend due to time zone differences. As I promised beforehand, I will now announce the winning ticket numbers here so that the winners still have a chance to claim their prizes. The first prize goes to ticket number 6. Second and third prizes go to tickets 24 and 14. Only third prize has been claimed so far (by Heaven), so if you missed the raffle draw then check your tickets in case you have a winning number!
As a side note, with all the activity tonight, we have also achieved a new maximum client count of 24. Whilst we will still aim for higher targets, this is a major achievement as we have beaten our previous record of 15 - which was set all the way back in November 2006. I hope that we can work to achieve these numbers on a daily basis!

MYTH OR REALITY? - Thursday 10 of May, 2007.
|
|
For years people have suspected that there are many creatures whose existence has yet to be discovered. Imagination leads many to speculate as to what will be found in the future, and rumours spread throughout the land whilst adventurers seek them out.
One such rumour that has been sparked recently has been caused by the incident along the Britain-Trinsic road. Are rat-men responsible for attacking the travellers? Did the poor treatment of an innocent goat lead to violent behaviour? Or is there something much worse out there?
Today it seems that all may be revealed. Reports indicate that the creatures attacking travellers may actually be Elemental Zostriches. For a long time there have been rumours that these roam the land, but there has never been any proof of their existence. Now it seems that some witnesses have seen a tamer known as kard carrying a large egg away from the danger area, and then later saw that the tamer Crey was riding what can best be described as a zostrich with a similar appearance to an earth steed.
Experts believe that this large egg may have belonged to a family of elemental zostriches who recently made their home down the Britain-Trinsic road. As travellers passed by, these zostriches became afraid and protected their young to the best of their abilities. It would appear that kard and Crey may have been the first to successfully fend off their attacks and defeat them - taking their egg as a prize and raising the baby zostrich as their own.
The question that remains is, are there more out there or was this a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to catch a glimpse of these zostriches? Some travellers are still being attacked down the Britain-Trinsic road, although much less frequently, and it seems that travellers in other regions of the world are now being found with the same wounds. Experts believe that this is just the beginning of appearances from the elemental zostrich.
